As you know, Niagara will move into the RED "Control" Zone on Monday, December 21, 2020. Once a Region enters an elevated zone, they remain there for a minimum of 28 days.
With this, we will be starting our "holiday break" from indoor training as of then. We were working with the City to create scenarios where we could continue our training before Christmas and into early January. However, the new regulations are tighter than we had planned for. With coaches/parents counting towards the maximum of 10 patrons in a facility at one time is too restrictive for us to continue to run the sessions.
We have decided to put training on hold while Niagara is in RED.
The restrictions call for the following:
(From the City of Thorold Media release - December 18, 2020)
- A maximum of 10 patrons may be in a facility, regardless of size, at one time - this includes coaches, players and parents/guardians.
- There are no special capacity limits for on-rink activity, provided the maximum number of patrons does not exceed 10 in the facility at one time.
- No spectators; one parent/guardian for persons under 18 permitted to a maximum of 10 patrons in the facility.
We know that this is not welcome news as our sessions were growing in numbers and the players/coaches were developing minute by minute, but it was what we have to do.
Please continue to watch this page and your email as we will have updates for you. We will also be sending out age-specific training videos so you can help your players at home. We will be taking this time to continue our planning for an amazing 2021 season with increased teams and a great player experience.
Thanks as always for the support, dedication, and we will be together soon enough. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and take care.
