Offering competitive teams across multiple age levels, families can get involved from 9U through 15U, providing players with progressive development and a platform for high-level play.  In 2026 we hope to field teams from 8U to 18U.

Our Rep squads compete against top-tier talent within Niagara and beyond, with many achieving podium finishes—including multiple championship and finalist appearances across the years thoroldbaseball.com. Important: Release Requirements for Non-Thorold Residents

If you do not live in Thorold and your home centre offers a Rep team for your player’s age group in 2026, you must obtain a release from your home centre before tryouts. Thorold Baseball cannot request this on your behalf — it’s your responsibility.

You can still complete the 2026 Rep Interest Form now, but your player cannot step on the field without the proper release.

Release Scenarios — What Applies to You? (we’ve tried to cover the most common scenarios)

  1. You’re currently on a Thorold Rep team (2025) and had a release:
    No action needed.
  2. Your home centre doesn’t offer a 2026 Rep team at your player’s age:
No release needed — you can try out in Thorold.
Note: If a team returns in 2027, you may need to return or request a new release.

  3. Your home centre didn’t offer a team in 2025, you made Thorold’s team for 2025, but your home centre does have a team in 2026:
If you did not receive a release in 2025, you may have to return to your home centre or request a release to stay in Thorold.

  4. You are a minor, your home centre offers a major program (e.g., you’re 14U and only a 15U team exists there):
You’ll need a release or try out there first; if cut, no release is needed.
  5. You had a 2025 release but didn’t make a Thorold Rep team:
You’ll need a new release for 2026 tryouts.

  6. You try out for your home centre’s 2026 team and are cut:
You become a free agent — no release needed to try out elsewhere.
  7. Your home centre has a team, but you want to try out for Thorold:
    You’ll need a release.

  8. You were previously released to a different centre, made that team, but now want to try out for Thorold:
You’ll need a release from your current centre and your original home centre.
  9. You are a Thorold resident playing on another centre’s team but want to return to Thorold:
No release needed — you can return anytime.
  10. You are a Thorold resident and want to try out for a non-Thorold team:
You’ll need a release from Thorold before trying out.

How to Request a Release

Email your home centre (based on your current address) and include:

  • Your intent to try out for Thorold and that you are asking for a release
  • A brief reason for your request
  • A request for a response before Thorold’s tryouts

Your home centre is not required to grant a release, and may instead offer a Permission to Try Out (PTO). If you receive a PTO and make the team, it becomes your release. If you don’t make the team, your rights remain with your home centre.

We suggest starting this process in the second week of August, as home centres are allowed up to 14 days to respond.  If you have not received a response within 14 days, I suggest following up again and forwarding your request and timelines to Niagara District Baseball Association (john@superiorlaundry.ca)
